Benefits of Rowing
Rowing is more than just a sport; it’s a blueprint for life! Participating in rowing at St Kevin’s College will not only develop a high level of fitness in your son, but also facilitate his successful transition into adult life. Improved organisational skills, self-confidence, a sense of responsibility, leadership and the ability to work as part of a team striving towards a common goal and vision. These are just a few of the positive outcomes participation in this challenging sport will provide for your son.

Organisation of the Boatshed
Tom Courtney is the Teacher in Charge of Rowing and is responsible for the overall administration of rowing. This includes organisation of training camps, distribution of information to parents, liaison with the parent support group, organisation of logistics for regattas and some coaching.

He oversees crew selection and works closely with Mr Jim Hutchinson our boatman, to ensure our fleet is maintained to a high standard.

Jim Hutchinson is our Head Boatman and is responsible for towing our boats to regattas and camps, and maintaining our extensive fleet of boats. Jim also cooks up a great coach’s breakfast at regattas.
